Our free introductory course, The Basics, promises to teach you Joomla in one hour. There are several ways to install Joomla and we teach the most common methods which are:
- using a control panel
- using phpMyAdmin
- using the command line
We could have also included:
- using an automated script such as Fantastico or Softaculous provided by your web host
- creating a demo account at demo.joomla.org
Our Joomla Pro course also demonstrates how to install a local instance of Joomla.
If you really want to learn Joomla, we think it's best to understand the installation process, so you have a feel for what's happening in the background. But if you want to skip this step, you can pay someone. There are various freelance websites where you can find experienced developers who can do this and our favourite destination is oDesk. But it's a pain to go through the process of listing a project, interviewing candidates and choosing someone for such a simple task.
Fiverr.com is a marketplace for small services. Providers list gigs at the fixed rate of five dollars. Buyers simply choose a provider, pay a fiverr and once the job is done, rate the seller. And now there is a Joomla category. Most of the gigs are for installation but there are other tasks such as fixing problems.
So if you're struggling to install Joomla or just can't be bothered, check out Fiverr.com.
