Joomla 3 Webmaster Course Section 1

Joomla 3 Webmaster Course Section 1

Yes! Our next course is well underway and the first section is now online. Existing members can login and navigate to Members > Beyond the Basics Latest > Joomla 3 Webmaster. We will continue to release lessons one section at a time.

What's in the course?

This is a huge course that has seven sections and around 100 lessons. Everything from the basics of using Administrator to access control to multi-lingual sites is included. The first section is "Administrator Essentials" which has 17 lessons on setting up Joomla.

How much does it cost?

If you're an existing member, you don't pay anything. This is part of your Beyond the Basics lifetime subscription.

Now I know I've said this before, but we ARE finally working towards a new pricing model. If you join now, you will be part of the lifetime deal, which means you only pay an initial joining fee and all future Joomla courses we release won't cost you anything. However this is changing and we're launching a new website where each course will have a seperate charge. So if you're not yet a member, now is a great time to join

Where have you been hiding?

The last 12 months has been challenging both for business and personally. I added an ecommerce side to the business which required much more time than I anticipated. Also one of our kids was diagnosed with cancer which as you might imagine soaks up a lot of time. The good news is we have a new team member to help with work and my boy will most likely be okay in the long run.

I'm excited to be back and I hope you'll continue to join me as we roll out some great new courses and services to help you succeed online.

Hello Richard:
It seems that no matter what road bumps you hit in life, you still have great passion for your business and helping subscribers Build a Joomla Website. Thank you. Following is an anonymous quote, which I've turned to over the years while raising children, etc.
all the best,
-Giovanni

...Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay now, it's not the end.

Richard, Like so many others, I'm sorry to hear about your son...but hope all turns out OK. In my own experience, there'll be good days and bad, but you've got a lot of goodwill leaning towards the former.

I am a member and I was wondering if anyone is still hosting their own site using their own server. I am using a IBM Power5 and want to upgrade to a Power6 using the latest version of Joomla. But I don't see or know of anyone doing the same as I am. Help!!!

Given that many of the people here are beginners, there's a good chance you're on your own - here at least. I can't imagine it would be a problem, but how to do it - sorry - not my thing. But do you really want to do this? I had my own server at RackSpace for a while and in the end it was more trouble than it was worth. Yes I had a lot of control, but the daily hassles ended up outweighing the benefit of a more basic plan.

There's no reason why it won't work, it's just not our preferred approach. I've done some unconventional installations of Joomla before, but it's often not worth the grief. Give it a go and if you get stuck, post your question in the forum. At the end of the day, the installation is relatively simple; create a database, unpack the Joomla files and run through the installation routine. But setting up your server to be able to do this is beyond me. You need to get MySQL, Apache and PHP going which is involved. If you can get that far and preferably throw in phpMyAdmin as well, then we should be able to get you the rest of the way.

Thank you. There is 2 years of treatment so it won't be speedy, but I'm thankful that treatment exists at all.
