Widgetkit 1.1 was released a mere three weeks ago, adding support for responsive design, but YOOtheme has quickly put some updated functionality in the hands of users looking to improve their image galleries with Widgetkit 1.2.

This new version of Widgetkit features improved image management along with some great new effects as well. With version 1.1, Widgetkit offered drag and drop support for uploads, but developers at YOOtheme note that with version 1.2 users "can now upload and delete images as well as create and remove folders and their images." This virtually eliminates the need to use FTP or the Joomla Media Manager for image management.

Two new effects were included in this new release as well. Both Slideshow and Gallery widgets now feature Rotate and Scale effects, both of which are supported by touch devices and swiping.

There's also a new gallery style called Inside. This is a basic slideshow with thumbnails inside the main images.
