Having trouble working Facebook into your Joomla website?

Having trouble working Facebook into your Joomla website?

Inserting code for things like Facebook in Joomla is often a pain, but one great method we've come across is from our friends at JoomShaper. They've created a free extension that allows you to include Facebook in your site in many different ways.

The extension features displays such as:

  • Like Box
  • Activity Feed
  • Live Stream
  • Like Button
  • Comments
  • Recommendations

To create a quick Facebook Like Box as you see below, here are the steps:

Download the extension from JoomShaper here.

Install the extension as you normally would.

Grab the URL of your Facebook page.

The installation process should automatically create an SP Facebook module. Inside the module, make sure Plugin Type is set to Like Box under Basic Options.

Then under Like Box Options, paste in your Facebook Page URL. Assign a module position, set to Published, Save and then check your website's front end.

You can adjust several display options inside the module if you should need to.

If the module works out for you, make sure to provide a review in the JED.

I can't get it to show anything other than the header in my site. I have selected the Like Box... added my FB URL and it shows nothing.

Installed program and that went pretty easy. I have tried to put this on my front page but had a problem when trying to view it. This is the URL I put into the URL Box http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/147673731933385/.

When I refresh the page I get this error: Could not retrieve the specified page. Please verify correct href was passed in.

Thanks Don

Richard,

I like the layout of your blog. I have been using k2, but I noticed yours doesn't have the stupid /item/345-then-the-item-alias as the URL. I also have realized that K2 powered blogs have a couple SEO issues. Could you advise me on what would be best to use for a blog with Joomla?

Thanks!

You can probably get around the URL issue by using a search engine friendly extension such as MijoSEF. In any case we use and recommend EasyBlog.

Are you talking about likebox? If yes, then please explain the settings you tried. Also disable show steram and show header option.
