Hello, thank you for the great information you provide with the tutorials and forums. I've been researching for awhile now how to get a solution to a problem I've encountered, and can't find the answer, so hopefully someone could provide a solution. :)

I'm building a local business directory using Joomla 3 and K2.
A few weeks ago I was able to assign specific modules to specific pages. A few days later went back to do some more, on all but 1 page the modules had disappeared, and when I tried assigning modules to other pages they won't assign. Only the first one has stayed the same. I even tried using the Advanced Module Manager, still nothing. I have noticed that all of my URLs have changed except the one page that still had the modules on it. My question, are these changed URLs causing my modules not to assign anymore? And why would they have changed, could a Joomla update cause them to change?
I have compared everything in my menus and all the settings look the same, how can I get my modules to assign again?

Thank you.

Hi Cassandra,

URLs don't suddenly change on your site unless you made some changes in the Global Configuration such as activating SEF URLs. It looks more like you're assigning Menu Items to specific restaurants and not to others. That would (partially) explain why some modules appear in some pages but not in others. For example, I'm guessing you assigned a Menu Item to Hammerhead Fred's article page and not to Marina Cantina's?

I tried it in the main article, I wasn't able to get the layout to look nice. It's fairly simple to find the modules, I just type in the restaurant name or the name of the module I'm looking for in search bar of the module manager and it pulls right up. Easy peasy. :)

Hi Cassandra,

I'm glad you got things working again. I'm not sure though why your menu assignments would be disabled after a few days.

While it looks like things are okay on your site now, you might want to reconsider how you're organizing your content. You say the other bits of information per restaurant (such as their operating hours and specials/deals of the day) are organized as individual modules. Perhaps it would be easier in the long run to include all that information in the restaurant's main article? That way, you can keep all related information per restaurant in one place and you don't have to mess about with several modules. If you need to update or delete a restaurant, you will need to hunt down the individual modules for that particular restaurant and edit/delete each one.

Bingo!! :D :) :o Finally found it!
I added a new item (restaurants) to the hidden menu, created and assigned module.. for some dumb reason it worked! So I created more, some worked, some did not..went back to the hidden menu and pulled up one that didn't assign (Marina Cantina) under Select Item, I reselected the k2 item Marina Cantina, saved, went to the modules reselected appropriate assignment saved and bingo!! Used same formula with rest of the ones that would not assign, now they are all appearing. YAY! Still stumped as to why I had success today when other days I would not, as I didn't do anything different when adding item to hidden menu..confusing.

Thank you so much for your assistance! :)

Hi Tristan,

SEF URLs have always been activated; Each of the pages (Restaurant page) will need a module for hours, video, deal of the day that will be specific to that restaurant, so I created a hidden menu and put the restaurant (Hammerhead Fred's), copied the original module (hours) put in the hours for HF, then assigned it to the hidden menu page HF, then created other modules with specific content - bueno! Did same for Marina Cantina and a few others..no bueno :p
