To assist with visitor tracking, I have been trying to add a Google Universal Analytics extension into my website using the Joomla install facility in Extension Manager but without success.
I downloaded a zip file from the Joomla website called plugin_gauniversal4joomla.zip but when I try to install, it comes up with an error message saying “JFolder::create: Infinite loop detected. Warning! Failed to move file.”
Apparently, this is quite a common error on the Joomla Forum. It suggests changing the Global Configuration in Joomla Extensions manager to /var/www/vhosts/http://mysite.com/httpdocs/tmp. I have tried this but then get another error message saying “Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML set-up file in the package.” Yet there is one!
I have even tried a different zip file called google-universal-analytics-joomla-v1.0.zip but get exactly the same results.
The background to my site is that my customer has become a representative for an Australian company, Blisterproof and we have replicated their website (Joomla version 1.5) and modified it for the English market. They are due to upgrade soon.
Do you have any ideas how to complete the installation or install the Google code into the header? This is my first Joomla website and not having built it myself, only modified it, it proving a huge headache!
