I have a project in which I have to create a website like yatra.com a complete travel planner. My query is that how can I create a website like this using joomla? Is joomla compatible for this type of website or I should use some php framework like codeigniter or cakephp?

Please, help me about this I need to start work on this project soon. Thanks in advance.

Hi I think you totally could create a travel website like yatra.com with Joomla. You just need to customize which could be done by yourself or hide a Joomla web developer. They will add more Joomla extensions to be like that site. Or you could get a travel Joomla template like this one http://www.nootheme.com/joomla-template/template-showcase/item/15-joomla-templates/24-nootravel.html.

As the staff say that you could use a PHP framework, but i think with a starup or nondeveloper, it will take much time. Just some of my thought. see ya.

Thanks for the response.

So php framework like cakephp, CodeIgniter and laravel is better option to create a website like yatra.com then joomla.

I also thought the same because these frameworks provide more customization the joomla.

Hi,

Joomla can be used to build almost any type of website, but it's best used as a Content Management System. This means it's great for news/magazine sites, blogs or any other type of site where content is updated regularly by one or many people. Joomla also makes it possible for you to put together a complicated website without knowing how to program in PHP or manipulate databases like MySQL. You just use extensions to expand your site's functionality.

While this makes it easier to build fully functional sites, knowing PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS and Javascript will allow you to take full control of your website and implement any type of rule or functional requirement your website or business requires. Given that, you might find a PHP framework like CakePHP or Codeigniter will provide you with more control over how your site works. I recommend Laravel as the PHP framework to build from.
