Question:
Does any of you know where's Joomla <head> tag section located?
Please tell me which section of Joomla is consider as HEAD section, and where should I add Twitter Cards META tags?

I want to add new Twitter Cards Analytics feature to my site, but adding Twitter Meta tags to article is not working. There's plugins, but seems like many people are experiencing problem for Twitter validation issue.

Anybody knows where I should directly embedded Twitter Card Meta Tags in to Joomla without depending on using plugins? Thank you in advance.

Thank you for comment & link, Tristan. I was completely not aware of robots.txt. I'll look into that issue.

Hi,

If you have access to your template's index.php file via FTP or in your template settings, just add the twitter meta tags right after the <head> tag.

After you edit the index.php file and save it, you will need to edit the robots.txt file in your Joomla installation. This will allow the Twitter web crawler to look through your site and load pictures (stored in the /images folder). Read the instructions on the page listed in the Reference Link below (read the section on URL Crawling and Caching).

Not editing the robots.txt file even after adding the Twitter <meta> tags is probably the reason why a lot of people are getting various errors.

Thank you. I didn't know it is such a delicate file. No wonder people are so depending on a plug-in.

I might have given an impression that Twitter Card Meta tags cannot be added to article, that is not true. It can added inside of article, but it just does not work. I have been trying this method for several days, and give up. If any one has successfully activated Twitter Card in this method I would like to know.

Because every time I try to validate the card, Twitter gives me error messages. That is the reason I want to put Twitter Card Meta tag to Header tag of Joomla.

In answer to your first question, the head tags are in the template. You normally find this in /templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE_NAME/index.php. But you need to be careful with this file as it powers your entire site and you can easily mess it up. Make a backup of the file before doing anything.

From what I can tell, the required code is different for each page. So if you can't paste this into the article in HTML mode, you will need to use a plugin.
