Google Summer of Code Produces Better Language Support for Joomla Core

One of the best things about the Joomla CMS and the Joomla community as a whole is that it truly tries to be global and inclusive in nature. A lot of discussion and debate surounds the issue of language availability in Joomla, and many hours of development work have gone into providing a multi-lingual experience for those using Joomla as their web platform. Over the past few months, Google's Summer of Code project has brought about even greater support for language packs in the Joomla core.

Rochen Upgrades Joomla Forum Infrastructure

As the Joomla Forum grows and demands on hardware increase, some of the community members that frequent the popular message board have noticed some performance issues, and have even experienced site errors due to the increase in traffic. As more and more users took advantage of the Advanced Search feature, the site began to display the message: "Sorry but the board is temporarily unavailable, please try again in a few minutes." This began to occur with some regularity.

Is Joomla about to fall off a cliff?

Two weeks ago I asked the question "What is your favourite Joomla 2.5 feature" and asked you to comment on the upgrade process. Some of the comments suggested that upgrading was a frustrating experience. This got me to thinking that Joomla might be in danger of falling off a cliff. Is this the beginning of the end or the beginning of a new era?
