Some types of Menu Items relating to Article display include Single Article, Category Blog and Featured Articles. Each Menu Item Type will provide a distinctly different page layout using the same content stored in the Joomla database. This is one of the main benefits to using a CMS such as Joomla.
For instance, a Single Article layout will display only one article from one category that you choose. The Category Blog layout will display multiple articles from a specific category, but the structure and display of the page is highly configurable in the Joomla Administrator.
Other Menu Item Types include Login Form, User Profile, External URL, Single Contact and Search. Each of these types will provide access to different content and provide templating layout specific to that content.
