Free Joomla Template Contest from TemplateMonster.com and BuildaJoomlaWebsite

UPDATE: This contest has now closed. The winners will be contacted.

We have worked with TemplateMonster.com, host of a massive collection of Joomla templates, to bring you an opportunity to claim one of two free templates for your next Joomla project. TemplateMonster not only features hundreds of Joomla templates, they also provide customized services, such as installation, adding your own logo to a template, changing your color scheme for you and providing hacker and spam protection to your site.

To win this contest, leave a comment below telling us which TemplateMonster template you would use and why. Be as creative as you can. For example, tell us how the layout and features will fulfill your specific project needs, or explain how the theme fits your audience and your brand message. The top two commenters as judged by our panel will win the template of their choice.

We may also follow up in a future post to showcase the finished products from this contest.

You must also leave a valid email that we can use to get in touch with you should you win one of the prizes.

Good luck!

Visit the TemplateMonster Joomla section to view their selection.

Terms and conditions

  2. Chance plays no part in the outcome. Winners will be chosen based on their responses.
  3. Multiple entries (comments) are permitted. But only a maximum of one prize will be awarded per entrant.
  4. Prizewinners will be notified by email. In the event that a winner does not respond within seven (7) days, we reserve the right to choose a new winner.

Joomla! isn't the most intuitive CMS I've used; FrontPage was. Yeah, yeah, FrontPage wasn't really a CMS, but it was very easy to use. I've used Concrete5 and WordPress. Joomla! outshines them by at least a mile.

I think template #Item: #38024 would work best for my new site.
It has a social aspect look and feel that I would like to incorporate
into my new startup company launch. It has a simple but get to the
point theme which I have been trying to develop on my own with a
non-cms program and it's been %$#%^! You make it all too simple!
I don't have a domain yet but I think it will be FacetalkMarketing.Com

I have a small online English as a Second Language (ESL) site. I'm planning on creating a library for my students. It's going to be a place where they can read, watch videos and get other ESL information. Currently, I'm making videos and posting them on YouTube, but I'd like my site to have extended videos with more information. I also want the site to offer reading material on different topics. The template I'd used is: #23674

Each tab would feature a part of the library, ie. videos, articles, news, and E-books. Students would be able to quickly click on one of those categories and easily gain access to that information. Another feature of the platform would be that the students could leave comments about the information they've reviewed or post suggestions. This way I can continue improving the information and design the material to suit the students' needs.

I feel that this template would be perfect for what I'm designing because of the library theme. It's not cluttered and looks user friendly. It also fits my target market, which is college students and professionals learning English as a Second Language. I need a template that is straight forward so that the students don't get frustrated trying to figure out how to use the site. Therefore, this one would work well because of its simplicity.

Joomla Template 41246 is a clean modern design that I would use for my own 2013 presentation of my design company. I am considering using this for a a possible client in Manila. They are building a business incubator and the office has a super awesome interior design. I can see this template as part of their brand.

And its mobile ready. Way to go Template Monster!

This is only one unfortunate thing the LIVE DEMO is not working. Database connection error (2): Could not connect to MySQL.

Hi
My selection process is based on the needs of the future, I am looking for a responsive template suitable for Joomla 3.0.1. Of the six templates thrown up from my search, I think that #41423 by Cowboy gives me what I am looking for, it has an horizontal menu, showcase and a reasonable number of module positions. When the demo was viewed on a reduced browser size, the responsive action was very free and yet positive. However, on the downside, when viewed on Mobilizer simulator I could not find the menu, so before buying I would need to clarifier how the menu works. Also not sure of the use of a showcase on smartphone. That's has creative as I can get this morning, well I am a senior citizen.

Joomla template 40885 by Elza is nice. A template without responsiveness is outdated. That it fits on the various used types of hardware and still gives the same feel of the website is really good.
The template itself is innovative in that it shows short blocks of information. Nowadays we are all used to reading short bits of information. Scanning a page fast is very easy with this template. If a piece of information is interesting, one can easily continue to the next page.
I like the template very much; the positions make it a nice template to start with for a large business.

Definitely #41425
I'd use it for a friends jewellery site that she wants updated to be able to use a CMS and get away from her current web guy who is far too slow to respond. Sound familiar? Naturally I'd recommend joomla.
She has some great images of her sometimes wacky jewellery and this template would suit it perfectly. I like that it's responsive as she uses social networking quite a lot so if people get e.g. facebook updates on their phone they could then check out the items on her new site immediately and (soon) purchase the item then and there. Ideal.
I looked at the demo on my iPhone and it works well. The designers have done a good job.

I would like to use template 41300. I like its light colours and stright forward layout.
The primary reason I like it is because it has a simple structure, yet reveals the top 10 topics on one page.
My web site is for a charity organization.Visitors would want quick information about the charity and where it can help the community. Giving them the most frequent responses on one page would be a great help.
Joomla can help us adjust quickly to changing demands of users for certain topics. so we can easily change contents of top ten articles on the front page.

Oh wow, this would be a dream come true! We have a summer camp apostolate with youth from across the country. Our programs range from 10 -14 year olds and 15-18 year olds and the response is just incredible. Its really hard to keep up with all the inquiries and registrations when the season begins! Right now anything about the camps is on our main site... but its very limited. I would love to begin a site just for it! Template #39740 would work nicely I think. Its got kind of the earthy look already and could be fun and serious at the same time for the different age groups; it would be viewable everywhere without distortion (which is a problem on our site now) and I know it would be a great resource. It would be SUCH a great tool and SO nice looking at the same time. Thank you for this opportunity.

What a nice thing to do! Thank you.

I do a couple dozen websites as favors for charities, churches, theater and actor friends. Donating templates gets really expensive, whether the sites are Joomla or WordPress, but a favor is a favor. I love 40997, 41301 and 41427. So many possibilities.

You know, one thing I learnt building sites for charities is that non-profit does not mean no budget. They're happy to spend something. They also respect your time more when you're charging.

Just trying to transfer a 500+ page .html website to Joomla! 3. The reason for going to 3 is that i do not want to do a upgrade within a half year from getting it running. Have not looked to closely on the templates yet but I'm getting to that point.

White News Portal Joomla Template

Item number: 37497
Template Type: Joomla
Author: Oldman

I would go with the White News Portal. It has places for News, Market, Video, Editor's Choice, allows comments from readers. Very cool. Hook it up with a JomSocial template and a cold beer and you have one hell of a Saturday Night on tap!

Who needs those gorgeous big breasted babes when there's a template that need's-install'in. "Hi there big boy, you wanna have a good time"? "I sure do! Let's exchange templates!" I would say. She would reply, "Um... well that's not what I was talking about stud muffin"...

Then she would let her left shoulder strap slowly fall off her shoulder... "I kind of figured we could get more
comfortable, you know, get to know each other a little better" she would continue, "Do you have a favorite
'position'? she would ask, as her eyes longingly gaze into mine then swiftly dance away.

My cheeks would quickly flush when I realize just what she is asking me. I hardly know this woman, but for her to ask such a question! I then glance over to her shoulder strap that she has deliberately let come un done, and at the tube top that is somehow holding her all together...

I then take her hand in mine, and I look into her eyes... and I say, yes I do... I do have a favorite 'position',
it's actually "SIDEBAR-A" from the White News Portal Joomla Template # 37497

Then she would gasp in amazement at my stupidity and be totally disgusted at herself for throwing herself at me and slam the door on her way out of my apartment!

Then I would sit there, realizing just what an opportunity I missed, and what a fool I have been... And I would
think of her, then look at the "White News Portal Joomla Template # 37497", then I would think about her again.., and again, look at the Template #37497... and I would realize just how much the two had in common...

Both the Template and her had a beautiful "Content-Top", and wow, a killer "Content-Bottom" .... And those
"Footers" sure looked good in heels...

Sigh... I really need to get away from this computer...

Template #41301 is perfect to exhibit my passion for photography. If I could build my website on this template, I feel I could take my passion to anther level - a more professional one.

The huge carousel display is a wonderful way to showcase the best photographs and it gives a very grand feel to the website. The design is as crisp as I need it to be; simple for my visiters to browse through, and very attractive at the same time. I like the colors, the tabs, the placement of teh text and pictures, and pretty uch everything about this template.

This template seems to be the perfect launch pad for my dream career. I simply love it!
