How to embed a YouTube playlist using JW Player

There are various methods you can use to promote our paid courses which will in turn earn you a commission. The following method is the most effective because it provides you with great content and helps build trust to increase the chance of a sale. This works as follows:

 • Our free course - called The Basics - is on YouTube and the lessons been compiled into YouTube playlists
 • You embed one or more playlists on your site
 • Each lesson includes a blurb at the end that encourages viewers to click a button on your site to learn more about our advanced courses
 • You create a button that links to us with your affiliate code
 • You make money when the viewer buys
This is our preferred approach because you get great free content which will please your visitors. Also, the hardest thing in sales is convincing prospects that the product is right for them and that they won't be disappointed. You might have heard that prospects buy from those they know, like and trust. This is even harder online as websites tend to be cold and unfriendly. The more you can do to build trust and the more your prospects get to know you, the more likely they are to buy. Our approach is effective because viewers already know (and hopefully trust) you, so it is better that they start by watching The Basics on your site. After they have watched a few lessons, they should know, like and trust us enough to click through and buy.

In this post we discuss how to do this using the JW Player plugin by JoomlaRulez which works in conjunction with a rather nice looking video player by LongTail Video. We're assuming that you already have these installed and working.

There are two steps:

 1. Create an article and insert the appropriate plugin code (see below). We recommend including both the Joomla 1.6/1.7 tutorials and the Joomla 1.5 tutorials.
 2. Create a button or banner that encourages viewers to click through to our site. Insert this beneath the video player and link to us using your affiliate code.

Joomla 1.6/1.7
{ jwplayer}&playlistfile=http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/playlists/71895742412B52BE&height=645&playlist.position=bottom{ /jwplayer}
Joomla 1.5
{ jwplayer}&playlistfile=http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/playlists/579C93FE2F7A3797&height=645&playlist.position=bottom{ /jwplayer}
{jb_warning}IMPORTANT: in order to display this code without the plugin triggering on this page, we had to place a space at the beginning and end of the lines. You must remove the space that appears just before jwplayer and /jwplayer{/jb_warning}

The result

{jwplayer}&playlistfile=http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/playlists/71895742412B52BE&height=645&playlist.position=bottom{/jwplayer}
