You guys are funny...

I've been gone a few months.. I took some real, kick ass website tutorials and now I'm working with HTML5, CSS3, and Jquery..I see there are no new Joomla 2.5 videos out. Lots of new customers, tho i bet they've been fleeced nice and hard..

I've waited long enough for new videos to appear, now i don't even use Joomla , anymore.

Perhaps someday, Mr. Peirce will lower his Tutorial prices for the Intermediate, Pro Courses and tell others that his videos are actually 1.5 ect ect...

So sad that some people lower themselves to this level of cunning , but i guess some will do anything for 100 bucks.

I don't see mr Peirce adding any new videos now or ever to this site. I doubt 3.0 will ever see the light of day on Buildajoomlawebsite.. But we can hope..

Lower your prices, Richard.. 100 bucks for obsolete videos is not in the public's best interest if you want to keep customers happy..

Have a nice day//

I don't mind constructive criticism, but I do get my back up when someone uses words like "fleeced" and "cunning". We all work damn hard to produce what many customers have told us are the best Joomla tutorials available. The course teaches you ALMOST everything you need to know to use Joomla. Yes, many of them were recorded with version 1.5, but the changes in MOST cases between versions are minimal. It's impossible and unnecessary to reproduce the entire course of 150 tutorials every time there is a new version of Joomla. The teaching works for 93% of people - guess you're in the 7% category.

And a lot HAS been added. You should check out our templates course (still to be finished but the "meat" of it is there) and Global Configuration and we're just about done with a new version of Joomla Users. All of this is announced in the newsletter and blog.

In regards to price, we're the cheapest of the main three providers of Joomla tutorials, considering we are not a subscription service. Pay once and get updates for life. I'm currently looking at running some classroom training which will cost $400 a head and not provide anything like the level of material in the Joomla Pro course. Most people see this as an incredible bargain.

Even though you purchased back in January, I'm happy to give you a refund. All you have to do is ask.

Not sure if I should enter into this thread, everyone to the own, but in support of BuildaJoomlaWebsite I can only applaud the tutorial series, the quality and content is very high, the amount of work that must go into producing such quality must be very great.

Some of the tutorials do relate to Joomla 1.5, but the Joomla product does move on at quite a rate and it must be accepted that there are minimal changes and to customise and maintain the tutorial up to date is no easy task.

I brought the Pro version @ $97.00 and you only have to look at the Bonus pack to see that it is excellent value:

BONUS 1: How to earn $4000 a month as a part-time Joomla developer
BONUS 2: Install Joomla on a local computer
BONUS 3: How to create an awesome blog
BONUS 4: How to create an e-commerce site
BONUS 5: How to create a membership site
BONUS 6: Search engine optimisation for Joomla
    PLUS: Lifetime updates
PLUS: Priority Support via our forum
PLUS: Everything included in the Beyond the Basics course

    It is just another view.
Keep your head down and swing through the ball, easy game.

Peter everyone is entitled to their opinion. My opinion is that the pro course is very good value for the money. I'm in the UK and at less than 50p per tutorial it represents very good value for money as I don't have the time to trawl the net looking for suitable videos, especially if I wanted to build a collection as accessable and comprehensive as the ones on here.

The style of the video is also important because they are easy to understand and give clear explanations as to what the aims and objectives of each video are.

You also have to take into accound the level of support you are given in the forums. If Richard can't give the time to answer then other knowledgable forum posters do. This is invaluable to anyone new to Joomla.

As a lecturer in web design and e-commerce I too know HTML5, CSS3, jquery, javascript, PHP etc but just do a search of web design companies on the web and all offer a CMS of some description even if it is not Joomla.

Another thing to consider is what the clients want, will you be "fleecing" them with maintanace costs or would they prefer to update the website themself. Saving them money and time.

To sum up as a learning tool the videos are second to none. I don't use the support forums but I know they are there if I need them and it is a friendly place were all posts are responded to in a kindly manner even the negative ones.

I agree with what Mike and Terry said and I received full value for money and then some.

I can also state I have not seen any reason for a subscriber to claim they were there fleeced.

Also I have web sites in 1.5 that need to be maintained while I learn how to upgrade with confidence and I still use the 1.5 tutorials.

We all don't have great memories mine was badly hit by injury so perhaps I use the tutorials more than most people which means I recognise the value to me.

Richard, I suggest you count to ten before replying to such posts, remember the 17 fish ;)

    I did.

And my public face is almost always positive. But in this case it is a public forum and ignoring such comments or being weak affects my income as I've found that newbies do read this stuff before deciding whether or not to invest in the advanced tutorials. It's fantastic that the community support our efforts with positive comments.

The fish are often the brunt of my frustrations, but they can handle it. They are African cichlids which are very hardy, except when you give them too much of the wrong chemical. I'm down to about six now. :(
