How to change your default images folder

The standard location that Joomla uses to store images is /images/stories. If you don't like this, you can change it:

  1. Login to Administrator as demonstrated in lesson 6 of our free Joomla tutorial and go to Global Configuration
  2. Click on the System link
    Global configuration
  3. Next to Path to Image Folder enter the location you would like to use; for example a lot of people prefer to use just images
    Media settings
  4. Click Save in the top right

WARNING: do not delete or rename the /images/stories folder on your hosting account. It is used elsewhere and if Joomla can't find it, you may experience some errors.
