New Joomla Users tutorials released

 

The first part of our new Joomla Users course is now available. You will learn how to create users, restrict what they can view and restrict what they can do. The lesson outline is:

Lesson 1 - Overview
How to locate and configure the basic settings.

Lesson 2 - Creating Users
The three ways of creating user accounts; from Administrator, self-registration and importing users from a spreadsheet.

Lesson 3 - Access Viewing Levels
Assign users to groups, assign groups to access levels and use the access feature to restrict viewing access.

Lesson 4 - Action Permissions
Creating rules specifying who can do what with content.

Lesson 5 - Access Viewing Levels example
A walk-through of two typical scenarios.

Lesson 6 - Action Permissions example
Expanding the previous example by creating action rules.

This first half teaches everything you need to know to successfully manage the Joomla access control list feature. However part two is currently in production which will include:

Lesson 7 - User Configuration
Understanding all the configuration options.

Lesson 8 - User Modules
Understanding the Latest Users, Who's Online and Login modules.

Lesson 9 - User Menu Items
Configuring the user menu items.

Lesson 10 - Extended Profile
Adding fields to the Joomla Profile.

Lesson 11 - User and Contact Integration
Combining the user component with the contact component.

Lesson 12 -  Messaging and Notes
Learning how to use the private message system and user notes. 

This second half will be added to the series soon.

Additionally, that sort of content list is a great asset to the tutorials and would be great added to all tutorials.

How about a link to these courses? They sound like JUST WHAT I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR! I did not see them (yet) in Pro, beyond, nor basics.

If you go to the Joomla Pro section and look to the list on the right, you will see the Joomla Users link.
