Easy YouTube and Vimeo Integration with JUserTube

Easy YouTube and Vimeo Integration with JUserTube

There are several Joomla extensions that deal with adding YouTube videos to a website, but there's something a bit different about JUserTube from software developer, srizon. The main differences with this extension have to do with its simplicity, its stability and the amazing support you'll get from the developer.

Amazing support can be rare these days, but a quick look at the JED for this extension will show you how impressed the community is the developer. The rating currently stands at 4.91 out of 5 stars. This shows that the developer believes in his work and is willing to work to make his customers happy.

Yes, it does seem to be a very stable extension, but there's not a whole lot that we can go into there. It just works. We can, however, explain the simplicity.

Once the extension is installed, you have two options for displaying videos. You can either create a menu item for the extension that will add a dedicated page for the videos, or you can create a module on a specific part of a page or pages. Both are relatively easy to set up, but here's what the module looks like in the back end.

Videos can be pulled in from both YouTube and Vimeo. YouTube playlists can be based on a user's uploads, favorites or a playlist. Vimeo playlists can be based on a channel or a username. You can also easily set the time limit for syncing videos from your source.

The layout and behavior of the playlist grid is also very easy to set in the Joomla Administrator as you can see below.

Another great aspect of the extension is that it will also pick up the existing styling of your template so it will fit right in without any further customization.

JUserTube is a commercial extension that runs $20 and is compatible with Joomla 1.5, 2.5 and 3.0. Note that there is also a server test tool that will show you whether or not the extension will be compatible with your setup before you purchase.

Can you recommend the easiest way add a .swf video to a Joomla 2.5 site? I am new at adding videos to a site and am getting frustrated. I don't think the customer wants to use You Tube or Vimeo, its a corporate video from one of the customers vendors. Thanks so much...I love your lessons.
